I feel like I'm a pretty good ways into the game (all movement abilities, second nail upgrade), and I still only have 4 charm slots total. Are most of those really late game or have I missed a few? If I remember correctly the only one I got was for fighting two big dudes at once in some area.

Hollow Knight drops you in a grim but at times beautiful world, armed only with a nail and a sense of adventure. Get a map and upgrade itHollow Knight features a labyrinthine world full of nooks and crannies, twists and turns. Most areas are quite large, with a few hallways that look quite similar.

As you explore, you will eventually become familiar with the rooms that are most useful while backtracking. However, you can make your journey easier by making a map as you go.Though a lot of games feature a system that automatically starts mapping as you explore, Hollow Knight makes you purchase the necessary implements using the game’s currency, called geo. Precious shards of geo drop whenever you defeat enemies, and sometimes you can find them in clusters around the caves. Team CherryNear the very start of your adventure, you come to a mostly abandoned set of a few buildings. This location is known as the village of Dirtmouth. Its main attraction is a well you can drop down to begin your adventure properly in the Forgotten Crossroads area.From where you arrive at the base of the well, head left and descend a high vertical shaft with platforms and flying enemies (a great early location to grind for geo, thanks to the swarms of relatively weak flying enemies you can defeat) until you reach a room with pieces of parchment paper strewn about it.

The man you find there is named Cornifer. He makes maps and will sell you a Forgotten Crossroads map at the quite reasonable price of 30 geo.

Team CherryWhen you buy that map, you will find you lack a compass. The Wayward Compass is now for sale back in the building just to the left of the well, up top in Dirtmouth. You can purchase the compass from a shopkeeper named Iselda for 220 geo. Make it your first big investment.

The main meat of the DLC is, I think, the quest where you summon the Grimm Troupe to the world of Hollownest: “Take part in a twisted ritual that stretches the breadth of the kingdom and bestows the player with a powerful new ally.”Part of the quest will involve some new boss battles (“a dark new foe and a twisted scarlet spectre”), smaller foes and mobs to fight as part of said quest, some new friendly characters, music, and charms. The latter are items you equip in special slots to grant your knight extra perks – increased spell damage or strength bonuses if you’re on really low health or thorny vines that damage enemies near you when you take damage, stuff like that.The specifics aren’t being revealed on the charm front yet but Team Cherry have offered up the icons so players can speculate. So I’m bunging them here for you to ponder and for me to appreciate as potential buttons and badges!There will also be the ability to place markers on the in-game maps so you can note locations more easily and make your way back, and there will be Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese language options. If you’re a GOG user you might also be interested to hear that this DLC will also be accompanied by the full suite of GOG Galaxy features – that’s the GOG take on a Steam-type service, so overlays, screenshotting, cloud saves etc etc.The and contains Kickstarter backer reward info if that’s relevant to you and some cute fan projects. It’s unclear whether Hallowe’en means 31 October, or that this is an event that will be launched to be enjoyed over the Hallowe’en period so perhaps a bit earlier.
